Arrival of Stekkjarstaur

The first Yule Lad is known in English as Gimpy or The Sheep-Cote Clod!

He is one of thirteen brothers. He heads into town on 12 December and leaves on 25 December. He is especially known for mischievously trying to drink milk straight from the ewe’s teet but is impaired by his stiff legs.

And kids, if you’re nice and leave your shoe on the window sill, he’ll leave you a treat. But if you’ve been naughty… there’ll only be a potato 😉
