871 – Battle of Ashdown

There was a tie after Englefield and Reading. The Vikings and Anglo-Saxons had a victory each. Then Æthelred of Wessex and Alfred met Bacsecg and Halfdan, the leaders of the Great Heathen Army, at Ashdown. The Vikings not only lost the battle, but also their leader Bacsecg.
