Life | 937, fights alongside his half-brother Æthelstan I at the battle of Brunanburh. 939, on 29 November he succeeds his brother as king of England. 939, treaty with Olaf Guthfrithson who invaded York. 940-942, upon Olaf’s death, Edmund regains the northern territories from the Vikings and banishes Olaf Sihtricson and Rægnald Guthfrithson. 945, plunders Strathclyde. 946, 26 May he is murdered by an outlaw called Leof. |
