Two researchers in York and Glasgow will lead a new project on Viking history. They will look at the dynamics between the Viking kingdoms of Dublin and York. Teaming up with them in this project, are the city councils of Dublin and York, the National University of Ireland, York Archaeological Trust, and York Museums Trust.
Of course, the Viking histories of Dublin and York are well-known and many differences and similaraties already published. Yet, this in-depth comparison will hopefully lead to new insights. And, to an even better understanding of the synergy between the two cities, and how certain protagonists established their power bases.
A number of workshops are planned in connection to this research project in 2021. Hopefully, news and publications will emerge from this collaboration, soon!
